A beautiful woman in Covington, Louisiana (Just North of New Orleans) needs and deserves your help.
To reward you for supporting her, I will send you a home-baked chocolate chip cookie.
Mmmmm... pure cookie goodness.
The woman in question is Annie Spell, a civil rights attorney who has dedicated her life to working for social justice and fighting on behalf of the marginalized.
She is now running as an underdog candidate for a seat on the Covington City Council.
Annie is renowned within the activist community for her tireless efforts on behalf of progressive values. Here is a small sample of the many projects she's been involved in:
To do my part for Annie Spell's campaign, and by extension the working people of Covington, I will snail-mail a home-baked chocolate chip cookie to the first 100 people who do one of the following actions:
1) Mention Annie Spell and her campaign in a positive way on a personal blog with at least one link to the following website: www.progressiveannie.com
2) Donate a minimum of $20 to Annie Spell's campaign.
3) Donate a minimum of 3 labor hours to Annie Spell's campaign.
When you do one of the three activities listed above, email me with your snail mail address. Within 10 days of confirming with the Spell campaign that you have done your part of the bargain, I will mail you a cookie.
FAQ:
Brainshrub.com usually focuses on national politics or social issues... why are you putting all this effort behind a small campaign?
Because I've met Annie Spell. I can vouch for her integrity, competence and dedication to social justice. Furthermore, she doubles the collective IQ of any room she walks into.
This is exactly the kind of person the people of Covington, who have suffered so much in the aftermath of the Katrina disaster, need and deserve.
Do I have to pay for postage to receive a cookie?
As long as your address is within the United States, then no. Otherwise, I will require postage paid in advance via PayPal. Email me for more details.
Is the Spell campaign paying you to do this?
Absolutely not.
There will have to be some amount of coordination between myself and the Spell campaign in order to confirm who has donated money and time, but otherwise this project is 100% my own initiative.
I mentioned Annie Spell in a positive way on my blog, and linked her site. Now what do I have to do for pure cookie goodness?
Send an email to brainshrub -a-t- gmail dot com with the URL of your blog post and a snail mail address of where the cookie should be sent.
I'll take care of the rest.
Where may I contribute money, and once I do, how can I collect a delicious cookie?
You can donate money here: http://www.progressiveannie.com/contribute.aspx
Once you've donated a minimum of $20 (US) send me an email with your snail mail address. Once I confirm the contribution with the Spell campaign, I'll take care of the rest.
Note: I will not be asking how much you donated or other personal details - I only need to know that the amount is $20 (US) or more.
Where can I volunteer in order to earn a tasty cookie?
Visit here to contact the campaign and plug in: http://www.progressiveannie.com/contribute.aspx
When you have completed three hours, send me an email (See above) with your snail mail address. Again, once I confirm your time with the Spell campaign, I'll take care of the rest.
